Recently I saw a shoot and a fashion show of Joy Mitra which was on Saree. In today’s India, where dresses, Pallazos are taking over the dressing pattern of Indian women, this move was surprising! But each and every design was so beautiful and immaculate that I couldn’t resist doing a story. Another reason for my motivation for this story is that in recent times, I haven’t seen such beautiful handloom sarees with such fine hand embroidery. Ethics Personified by Ethicus for Upliftment of Weavers of Pollachi

I really thank Craftmark for organising a Saree Festival from 2nd May to 4th May,2015 which I came to know through a facebook post of my friend, and my love for saree & its weavers took me to explore it. It was an eye opening experience for me; in a mad rush of fad fashion, short dresses,stylish dresses;watching so many educated people working for the cause for weavers who weave sarees, and not only this, they have dedicated their career for the upliftment of them. I met a lawyer from Maharashtra, who left his practice and metro life and moved to a small town with his family to revive Gadhwal weaving form of Andhra Pradesh. Then I met Mrs.VijayaLakshmi Nachiar of Appachi Eco-Logic Cotton Pvt. Ltd., who had beautiful cotton hand woven sarees under the brand name-Ethicus. Vidya Balan, the brand ambassador of Indian Film Festival of Melbourne looked ravishing wrapped elegantly in whole 6 yards, mesmerising her fans as well as the people at Melbourne. For 3 different events, Vidya chose sarees only, which not only glorified our Indian culture, it made Vidya distinct from Others. These days, when Bollywood actresses choose the comfort and glamour of dresses, gowns etc., Vidya Balan appears as a saviour of Indian culture. Not only this, Vidya wore a dark pink saree handwoven and designed by Pinnacle-By Shruti Sancheti, which brings a ray of hope to Indian weavers.
