PRAMA by Pratima Pandey presented ‘Katha’, a collection inspired by the rich visual language of Kathakali and India’s tradition of storytelling through craft. Bringing together silk Chanderi tissue, patchwork, Kantha and Sujani embroidery, the collection explored the interplay of colour, movement, gesture and costume through sculptural silhouettes and intricate handcrafted details. Rooted in the rich visual language of Kathakali, Katha translates this theatrical heritage into a world of silk Chanderi tissue, its luminous delicacy set against the intimate poetry of handcraft.
Chanderi’s ethereal lightness lends fluidity to the dramatic spirit of Kathakali, while sculptural silhouettes and richly worked surfaces create a refined tension between spectacle and restraint, grandeur and quiet detail. Each garment unfolds as a narrative in its own right-composed, layered and brought to life by hand. Katha, as the name suggests, is where tradition becomes poetry, and every stitch carried a story.
