“I don’t design clothes. I design dreams.” – Ralph Lauren
The lat day of AIFW brings mixed feelings always, to all of us. If there is an amazing feeling of a successful stint, there is a deep feeling of parting as well. Almost every designer whom I met, told me of closing great deals with buyers, Some were in process of it. Finally, All is well that ends well. The Day 5 began with an offsite show of Gauri & Nainika at The Claridges. The show was a visual delight for everyone, on a cool sunny day the open air ramp looked liked a party to all of us. The designs were gorgeous & the show was peppy. Dolly J and Jaya Rathore showcased their collection which was a mix of contemporary and traditional. Joy Mitra’s brought the best of elegant collection in his show.
The Grand Finale was again a treat for us; 9 designers, 45 designs and one speactacular show. This show was specially designed to promote #indiamodern concept of www.amazon.in . That means that indian dresses, silhouettes, sarees should be presented in a way, that is modern, contemporary, practical yet very stylish. This is an ambitious project of Amazon and they are quite aggressive in promoting it. The impact of this was visible every where as we saw many ramp shows pairing Saree with proper lace shoes, or Saree with a shirt.
