“We don’t simply fall in love, we become it” – RAHUL MISHRA
Rahul Mishra opened Hyundai India Couture Week 2025 in association with Reliance Brands, an initiative of FDCI, to an audience brimming with anticipation. After the roaring success of his recent Paris showcase, expectations were sky-high — and he delivered.
Alongside Divya Bhatt Mishra, Rahul presented Becoming Love, a collection that merged the elegance of his Paris creations with couture pieces crafted especially for the Indian runway. The designs stayed true to his signature — immaculate craftsmanship, layered storytelling, and artistry that celebrates heritage.
A Tapestry of Craft and Emotion
From fluid sarees to regal lehengas, ghararas, gowns, and fusion silhouettes, Becoming Love felt like a love letter to Indian craftsmanship. Every piece was born from handloom fabrics, enriched with intricate hand embroidery and embellished with shimmering sequins — a detail that brought a subtle sparkle to the runway.
Post-show, Rahul Mishra reflected on the philosophy behind the collection:
“Love is the most profound, complex, and multifaceted human experience, says ChatGPT, not merely describing it as a feeling or an emotion. Perhaps it is a choice the mind makes in one’s every living, breathing moment — like the air that surrounds you, that you inhale, soak in, and exhale. It becomes your very essence, your soul. And even when you forget to breathe, you remain surrendered, enveloped by its invisible force.
Sufism articulates the evolution of love through seven stages: attraction, infatuation, surrender, reverence, devotion, obsession, and finally, death. It begins with the first ray of sun, tender and unassuming, gathering strength and colour as it journeys toward complete oneness with the other. Until it reaches that stage, poetically referred to as death, where the ‘self’ ceases to exist — a quiet culmination.
This season, we are discovering this transformative passage of becoming love. Traversing these seven stages, we gather hue and form along the way, moving ultimately toward a profound stillness, where not even light intrudes.”
Jewellery and Showstopper Moment
The runway shimmered further with Rivaah Wedding Jewellery by Tanishq, the official jewellery partner of #HyundaiIndiaCoutureWeek20. The pieces added a regal depth, perfectly complementing Mishra’s couture vision.
Closing the show, Bollywood actress Tamannaah Bhatia took the stage as the showstopper. Draped in one of the collection’s most breathtaking ensembles, she embodied the very essence of Becoming Love — grace, strength, and timeless beauty.
